These genealogies aim to honor my parents, Olive Xavier Smith Piper and Daniel Robert Piper. In them, generational family information is supplemented by public records available online at no cost (as public records should be). But those records are often incomplete, inconsistent, incorrect, illegible, unavailable, or missing. Without the extensive and meticulous research of the hundreds of genealogists whose work I have consulted, and their generosity in making the fruits of their labor publicly available online at no cost, I would have had no guidelines for making sense of those records, or for supplementing them, where necessary, with their encyclopedic independent scholarship.
